Simple Joys of Life

Simple Joys of Life

Life gives all of us real happy moments to enjoy and treasure but are we able to do that? Haven’t we forget to revel in the simple pleasures of life that make our day to day life more meaningful? Ever tried finding happiness in all what you do? Ask yourself what really makes you happy. Be thankful for what you already have. In short, celebrate simple joys of life.

I routinely got down from my 7th floor apartment by the stairs and saw an old lady in wheelchair basking in the warmth of the noon during the chilly winter days. Since I was in a hurry, I just greeted her and ran outside to fetch my kids from their school bus stop. The next day, I went 10 minutes earlier than the usual time to catch up with my friends who also wait at the school bus stop. She looked serene as the yellow sun rays settled on her pale wrinkled face and silvery hair.

Her conversation began “It’s a lovely weather..I enjoy winters…earlier I used to knit wool for my grandchildren but now with the age I’m unable to do… I was quick to add Indeed, it’s a pleasant afternoon…we don’t get sun light in our house at this time of the day making it very cold for us”. The lady nodded her head and said but you surely can run down the stairs to a place where you’ve enough sun light…you really don’t have to wait for someone to take you and she rang a bell hanging on the side of it to call her helper. I waved her goodbye and started to walk towards the school bus stop.

Her last few words are imprinted in my mind for the life. I now ran, jumped and climbed on the walls before reaching my destination. I was overwhelmed with the joy of my freedom. It was simple. Recognize simple joys of life each day and you will be surprised with the fact that you now value the profound things. Well, you don’t always get what you want, but it’s worth to consider that there are many who don’t have what you have!

  1. Such a thoughtful read. I agree with the last line. YEs what I have many others dont and What they have I may not. Grass is always greener on the other side. We humans should understand this simple line to live happily.
